Mud anyone?

And so in typical British summertime (is it summer yet?) fashion Saturday's blistering sun was swapped for heavy rain on Sunday, which turned Braintree's freshly resurfaced track into a mud bath for EA regional round 3. The weather kept many people away and numbers were low, but those who did brave it were kept well entertained.

Myself and John rode in the combined 17+/superclass, which wound up having 5 riders in total, John taking the win in superclass as it's only entrant whilst I got second in 17+ behind the legend that is Julian Allen, despite my best efforts to ride him off the track at every opportunity! Jack Driver was 4th in 16's, even with a snapped brake lever after one of his crashes!

A fun day all in all, so cheers to Braintree for braving it and running the event.

Mansfield National Rounds 4 & 5

Sunday just past the Ipswich crew were back in action at Mansfield for the 4th and 5th rounds of the National BMX series. A far cry from the blistering heat of the previous weekends regional round, there was a chilly breeze all weekend but the sun won the battle over the drizzle of Saturday morning and left us with good racing conditions. We had an awesome weekend, with Ria taking 1st on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday, Robbie was disappointed to end up in the B-final on Saturday but made up for it by winning that with ease. Will Buck got the 4th spot. I managed another national A-final but hit the gate and wound up 8th. Sunday all three of us made the A-final, Robbie taking an excellent 4th spot, myself 6th and Will in 8th. RAD!

As always, Gate practice tonight at Landseer park from 6pm.

Mansfield Inter-Regional

We've all been out riding our bikes too much to be typing on a computer but here's a little update of what's been happening.

Just back from sunny Mansfield for the EA Vs. Midlands Inter-regional. Plenty of riders turned up to get some sneaky practice in before the upcoming National round there this coming weekend, making for some exciting racing. As for our riders, not the best day we could have had. Ria Goodman took a spill in her final and Shaun Andrews went down hard in turn two of his semi final, with myself narrowly avoiding riding over him! Both of us relegated to the B-final, Shaun opted not to race as he aggravated his already broken thumb. I think I ended up 4th or 5th in B-final, I can't actually remember!

Don't forget, Gate Practice Tuesday, 6pm Landseer park. The weather's supposed to be fast so be there!
